Is Eden Hazard overrated? Why is he being considered with the likes of Ronaldo and Messi, considering his goal scoring ratio is just 0.33 per game?

Eden Hazard's rise over the past couple of years has been meteoric, with the Belgian starlet undergoing a remarkable transformation from precocious Lille youngster to Ligue 1 sensation to one of the most sought after players in Europe with a huge price tag !

Now coming to stats :
in 2015,

Awards : TEAM :

LILLE:

Ligue 1: 2010–11

Coupe de France: 2010–11

CHELSEA:

Premier League: 2014–15

Football League Cup: 2014–15

UEFA Europa League: 2012–13

INDIVIDUAL :

UNFP Player of the Month (3 times): March 2010, March 2011, March 2012

PFA Players' Player of the Year (once): 2014–15

FWA Footballer of the Year (once): 2014–15

PFA Young Player of the Year (once): 2013–14

PFA Team of the Year (3 times): 2012–13, 2013–14, 2014–15

Chelsea Player of the Year (once): 2013–14 [he might achieve the feat this year as well]

Bravo Award (1): 2011[19]

THINKING AS A FOOTBALLER :

1.SPEED :

Eden is synonymous with Blistering pace. His ability to burst through in a blink of an eye is what we can associate with a handful of players.

2.BALL CONTROL :

With the acceleration that he's got it's difficult to maintain the close footwork that Eden produces in a match. Again, only a small group of elite big name players can do that.

3. PRESENCE OF MIND :

He can work his way out in the clumsiest and the most crowded of places on the pitch. Even if it's the middle of the park or the flank or the corner flag post with two or three defenders we can always rely on him and on his footy magic !

4. GOALS + ASSISTS :

With an excellent attacking work rate the prolific number 10 has bagged a little over a 100 goals and 30 assists in his ongoing career. This shows that he can both be a Ruthless finisher and an excellent Team player when the time demands.

So, by  thinking over all possible aspects of the game the only part he lacks as a player is defensive work ethic but being a player of such immense talent the defensive traits can be overlooked.

Hence, the guy is not over rated and certainly not overpriced as Chelsea FC only lured him for 32 million pounds from Lille, though the current market value is close to 150 million USD. Considering a player of his stature, It's only natural to think of him as a defender's nightmare.

PS: Feel free to edit on the stats if they are wrong. :)

I don't think Eden Hazard is overrated. And the thing that you are basing your argument on is not true.
See, both of them, Messi and Ronaldo play in the La Liga. You probably also know that the football in England has always been physical in nature, which is missing in Spain. Players are pushed off the ball, tackled from behind, and even shoved into the ground. They get away with it easily.
You might also know that Hazard is the most fouled player in Europe, which shows that the defenders have little clue how to stop him and they end up giving away a foul.
Remember when Ronaldo played in the BPL?
He scored more than 30 goals only once, that in 2007-08 season, other than that, he scored 18 or 17 or less goals.
And now, you see him scoring about 40-50 goals in Spain!
Surely you see the point now.
People compare Neymar to Hazard and say that Neymar is better and their arguments are only based on stats, which actually doesn't reflect how good a player is.
My Suggestion, let Neymar come to BPL, Shawcross will end his career within a few seasons.
Also, Hazard is insanely unselfish, that is the only bad thing about him.
He builds the play, and someone else finishes the goal.
If he moves to Spain, which i hope not! He will be scoring about 30 goals every season, and will eventually win a Ballon d'Or.
So to answer your question, He's worth the hype.

Depends on what you have been reading. Tabloids go gaga over anyone in PL and could write ridiculous statements.

If you have read Hazard is an extremely talented, top player in top form and on among the top 10 players on current form , you have probably read right.

If you are reading, Hazard is competing in the league of Ronaldo and Messi then you are reading overrated stuff.

When someone compares hazard to Ronaldo and Messi, and say he is in league of them, than its definitely over rating a player, who will not be even in top 10 players this time around.

Hazard is not even the best player in premier league, he is definitely TALENTED, but not in their league.

Hazard showed glimpses of his talents when he won premier league with chelsea two seasons back and won pfa player of the year award, but now is not even considered to be amongst top 5 in the league.

Yes he can change any match over his head but definitely he is over rated and all the hype surrounding his ratings will be judged on the basis of what he does this season for chelsea.

No, he's a fabulous player and will go on to do great things (perhaps not at Chelsea, that's another argument), but he's unlikely to ever reach the figures of the likes of Ronaldo or Messi. They are two unearthly players and few will ever live up to their records.

But nobody can deny his worth. He's quick with and without the ball (very important), but hasn't been a key player either for Chelsea or his National team so far. I know what you're going to say, he's been good, a great player, sure, I'll give you that much, but without him Chelsea would have clinched this Premier League all the same.

Next year, though, can be his. Now that he's above suspicion of his talent he can really shine. I hope he'll make it.

First of all keep the price tag aside and then I will discuss. Eden Hazard was player of the year in 14-15 season. Don't see the stats and goals. In Premier League the stats of assists and goals don't matter. Goals per match ratio is obsolete. You won't get a player nowadays who can bang in 30 goals in a season. Talk about his playing style. He plays on left hand and has a peculiar dribbling style with his strong right foot. He tries to cut in from the left and you will find him in midfield. So first of all he is not a striker and forget about no of goals. He is pacy wing player who can create chances from left flank for Costa and links with willian well. But when he scores his goals are treat to watch. He single handedly destroyed Man City in a game under Mourinhio. He dribbled past many defenders and nutmegging defenders. He didn't score but created many chances. But he is not complacent with Mourinhios bus park strategy. He criticized Jose for his strategy against Athleico in semis of UCL. In this season he failed because the team as a unit failed. So u cannot blame Hazard is a flop overrated EPL player. Hazard will shine in other leagues. I think he should go to Real or Bayern. Ancelloti should straight away take him and put him on left flank. People troll him that he finally scores a goal. Then they should troll Iniesta also because he hasn't had enough assists and goals but they don't. If u just see stats then it is of no value. Watch the footballer play and then comment. I liked this trio Hazard Mata Oscar. They were amazing to watch. Then Chelsea sold Mata who was their 2 time player of season. But Hazard led them to Capital One and EPL. Hazard doesn't disappear in big matches and contributes to teams play and its attack.

This is the career of Eden Hazard so far :

Source: Wikipedia

Eden hazard is undoubtedly one among the best young player, whereas both Messi and Ronaldo(7) are established player. Moreover I would like to tell that Eden Hazard plays for Chelsea, in EPL where the competetion is higher than La-Liga(where both Messi and Ronaldo play). Moreover in La Liga the challange is not that much as it is in EPL.

Both Messi and Ronaldo(7) are god gifted player but that does not mean that Eden Hazard is over rated.

It is quiet obvious that as Hazard is doing well that is why he is being compared with both Messi and Ronaldo
