Miralem Pjanic's comments about Cristiano Ronaldo taking free-kicks cause a stir
Two games played, 14 shots taken, zero goals scored.
Cristiano Ronaldo's wait for his first Juventus goal extended on Saturday as the Old Lady beat Lazio 2-0, courtesy of strikes from Miralem Pjanic and Mario Mandzukic.
Try as he might Ronaldo was unable to find a way past Thomas Strakosha, who denied the Portuguese a tap-in in the 75th minute.
Douglas Costa's cross looked like it was heading to Ronaldo at the far past until Strakosha got the slightest of touches on the ball.
Fortunately Mandzukic was on hand to finish into an empty net, with Ronaldo claiming the assist after the ball ricocheted off his heel.
It's only a matter of time before Ronaldo opens his account for Juventus, of course, and Pjanic believes he's already made a huge impact on the pitch.
"Cristiano's added something to Juve," said the Bosnian. "I must admit that he's very good at shooting. He'll give us so much and we're very happy to have him with us.
RONALDO'S DROUGHT CONTINUES
"Having him with us is very important and we can only benefit from what he'll give us. I hope he feels comfortable with us.
"From what he's said to us he's very happy to be here, so we hope that in the future, like he's always done, he gives us what he's always given at other clubs."
Ronaldo is widely regarded as the best marksman on the planet, but one source of goals that's dried up for the 33-year-old in recent years is free-kicks.
Free-kicks were once Ronaldo's bread and butter at Manchester United and Real Madrid but nowadays he struggles to even hit the target, let alone score.
And yet, according to Pjanic, Ronaldo has gone straight to the top of the pecking order for free-kicks at Juventus above himself and Paulo Dybala.
"Cristiano is here now, someone who in the past few years has shown he is best in the world," added Pjanic.
"At first when we trained on free kicks it would either be me or Dybala to take it. Now, it's 100% him. He is a tremendous free kick taker."
Outrageous. Ronaldo might be Juventus' new star player, but Pjanic and Dybala are far superior free-kick takers and will surely be frustrated about being displaced.
Football fans certainly see it that way, as you can see in the reaction below.
