Manchester United handed nightmare draw in Champions League group-stage simulator

Image
Manchester United are one of 32 teams vying for Champions League glory this season. The draw takes place this evening, but as per usual, as simulator has been done. This time by Italian giants AS Roma. In their simulator,  United have been handed a horrendously difficult draw , with the Red Devils going up against FC Barcelona, Ajax and Inter Milan; in our current form, that’d be an extremely difficult group to qualify from. Under the new rules where the champions go into pot one, that immediately means the Red Devils will go up against either Atletico Madrid, Barca, PSG, Lokomotiv Moscow, Real Madrid, Bayern, or Juve. So you know you’re going to get at least one immensely difficult team. The third-place sides are all elite sides, too. As the old saying goes, there are no easy groups in the Champions League any more. Whoever we get matched up with will certainly fancy their chances against us. As always, it’s about winning your home games and making that ad...

Bournemouth defender Ake: Chelsea medal was different

Image
Bournemouth defender  Nathan Ake  claims that he felt a bit odd when he won a Premier League medal. Ake was part of the Bournemouth team on loan in 2016-2017, playing ten times. But he went back to the Blues in January, featuring in some games. Twice in the league, three times in the FA Cup. He was given a league medal, but he felt strange about the experience and the resulting celebrations. "To go back and not play was a bit disappointing," he said to the  Daily Echo . "I would have wanted to play a little more. I didn't but, overall, I still learned a lot from going back to play under  Antonio Conte  and being around the Premier League-winning team. "I got a medal in the end. Not at the same time as the other players because I didn't play the five games but they sent me one. "It's not the same as if you played every game, so I didn't celebrate as loud as the others who had struggled the whole season to get the wins. I came for half ...

Ronaldo: Mourinho is special, don't criticise

Ronaldo has backed Jose Mourinho to turn things around at Manchester United, although he believes the Champions League will be staying at Real Madrid this year. Mourinho is under pressure after United started the Premier League season with one win and two defeats, including a 3-0 loss at home to Tottenham on Monday. He takes United to Burnley on Sunday with his future hanging in the balance, but Ronaldo believes a knee-jerk reaction would be wrong. "I don't know what's happening in Manchester, but wait before criticising Mou -- he's special and he's won a lot,"  he told Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport. United have been drawn against Juventus, Valencia and Young Boys in the Champions League, with Paul Pogba and Cristiano Ronaldo facing their respective former clubs. "[Juventus] are a really strong side," Ronaldo said. "They've reached the final twice recently and Ronaldo is going to strengthen them, but the Champions League is not e...

What is the meaning of the term "parking the bus" in football refer to?

Image
Rohit Meena Following and playing football since I was 14. 7w ago It will be a long answer but i bet you its worth it and you'll surely understand the whole concept Parking the bus isn't a new strategy; it's one that Inter Milan and Chelsea both successfully employed in defeating Barcelona and eventually claiming the Champions League title. Also nowadays most frequently used by teams like Athletico Madrid. AC Milan attempted an ultra-defensive strategy to try to hold on to a 2-0 lead against Barcelona. They failed  miserably. So  why didn't it work for Milan? First of all, let us define what is meant by 'park the bus'---> It's an ultra-defensive strategy, involving defending with nearly your entire team. You allow the other team possession, in exchange for occupying almost all available space in your defensive third, keeping the other team from creating any real chances at goal.  Then you counter as fast as you possibly can. Generally, you counte...

Giggs thinks this player is better than Hazard, Neymar

Image
Gareth Bale is capable of replacing Cristiano Ronaldo as the star man at Real Madrid, insists Wales boss Ryan Giggs. Following Ronaldo’s £105m move to Juventus, there has been an intense focus on who will step up at the Bernabeu and be the decisive player with the club linked to big-money moves for Neymar and Eden Hazard. “When someone like Cristiano leaves there is always going to be a spotlight on who is going to replace him goal-wise and threat-wise,” Giggs said. “It’s a massive void to fill but Gareth has the experience now of being at the club for a long time. “Every year there is pressure on him and he has handled it brilliantly. “It’s a bit different this year because Cristiano has left and there will be more focus on the players who are going to replace the goals. “But Gareth has shown his qualities in big games and that he can handle anything that is thrown at him.” Bale, who became Wales’ all-time ...
