Liverpool legend names one thing Klopp needs to change

John Barnes thinks Liverpool need learn how to “control a game” when they are leading but he admits that is unlikely to change under Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds were dominated in their Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night but they threw away a two-goal lead and had to rely on a Roberto Firmino injury-time goal to win 3-2.

And Barnes thinks the Reds could be better looking to counter-attack at times rather than looking to force the issue themselves.

“They need to know how, if they are 2-0 up, to control a game in terms of keeping possession and not giving the ball to the opposition,” Barnes said.

“Not attacking all the time to allow counter-attacks but they’re not going to change.

“That’s who Jurgen Klopp is.

“It’s not a question of learning how to do it – they won’t do it.

“Jurgen Klopp will attack, attack, attack. It’s okay us saying to sit back but that’s not who the manager is.”
