Chelsea defender David Luiz says Jose Mourinho set Manchester United up ‘just to defend and play on the counter-attack
Ross Barkley scored a last-minute equaliser thanks to the work of the Brazilian defender
DAVID LUIZ claims Manchester United's only intention in their draw with Chelsea was "just to defend and play on the counter-attack".
Brazilian defender Luiz played a pivotal role in the dramatic late equaliser from Ross Barkley at Stamford Bridge.
David Luiz accused Manchester United of only defending and playing on the counter-attack
Chelsea had taken the lead through Antonio Rudiger, but a second half double from Anthony Martial saw United come within seconds of the win.
Speaking to the club's website, Luiz suggested it would have been an undeserved victory: "We controlled the game with possession, trying to create some space to score some goals. They came with a plan just to defend and play on the counter-attack.
"I think in the first half it was just us who played. We could have done better by scoring the second goal to kill the game, but it is never easy to win in the Premier League, especially against a big opponent."
A draw sees Chelsea lose ground on Manchester City and Liverpool, with Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp both winning at the weekend.

Brazil's defender believes Jose Mourinho's team looked to snatch a win at Stamford Bridge
The highlight for many at Stamford Bridge, however, was on the touchline.
Barkley's late equaliser saw assistant coach Marco Ianni goad Mourinho and his coaching staff with a double celebration in front of the away dugout.
Mourinho rose from his seat and pursued the Italian, eventually ending up with an apology.
"Bad education," Mourinho said of Ianni's actions after the game.
While Luiz believes United arrived only intent on defending, Mourinho certainly left on the attack.
