Mohamed Salah: Did you notice what Liverpool ace had on his shoulder during PSG win?

Image
LIVERPOOL fans were quick to notice slightly worrying about Mohamed Salah during their win over Paris Saint-Germain last night. Jurgen Klopp’s side battled to a 3-2 win over PSG last night in the Champions League opener. Goals from Daniel Sturridge, James Milner and Roberto Firmino ensured Klopp’s side took three points in their Group C clash. Salah had a goal ruled out by referee Cuneyt Cakir who correctly judged that Sturridge had fouled Alphonse Areola when the pair scrapped for a loose ball. The Egpyt superstar made way for Xherdan Shaqiri late on but before he was substituted, fans noticed something worrying about his shoulder. Sergio Ramos controversially injured Salah’s shoulder after a tussle during the Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid back in May. The injury ended Salah’s participation in the final and put his World Cup hopes in serious doubt. While Salah did go on to recover and feature for Egypt during the tournament in Rus...

Liverpool news: The one reason Reds are so much better than PSG - Michael Owen

Image
LIVERPOOL were so much better than Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday because the Ligue 1 side are not used to playing against opposition as good as them. Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp's side got their Champions League campaign off to a winning start  That is the opinion of BT Sport pundit and former Liverpool and England striker Michael Owen. The Reds got their  Champions League  campaign off to a winning start, beating PSG 3-2 at Anfield. The scoreline does not tell the story of the game, as Liverpool arguably should have been out of sight before the visitors pegged them back to 2-2 after being 2-0 down. Roberto Firmino struck the winner in stoppage time to give Jurgen Klopp’s side a deserved victory.BT Sport presenter and ex-England striker Gary Lineker suggested to Owen  PSG ’s poor performance was down to the lack of quality in their domestic league. “Talking about PSG, is that perhaps a reflection of the fact they find it so easy in the ...

Champions League: Edinson Cavani hits back at Premier League claims after Liverpool defeat

Image
EDINSON CAVANI has rubbished claims that Ligue 1 is worse than the Premier League. Cavani endured a frustrating night at Anfield as his PSG side were beaten 3-2  (Image: GETTY) He made the comments in the aftermath of PSG’s 3-2 defeat to Liverpool in their first group stage match of the Champions League. He pointed out that many of France’s World Cup-winning squad play in the French league, and therefore the standard must be high. Of the 23-man squad that played in the UEFA Nations League matches against Germany and Holland, just nine played in Ligue 1. Cavani appeared disgruntled after the late defeat, and explained that there are no problems with the league. The best teams in Europe play in the Champions League and when you face them, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose,” he said. “I would like to see Premier League teams play in Ligue 1 so we could see how good they are. “I wouldn’t disparage the French league, as France are the current world c...

Neymar and Cavani AT WAR as Uruguay star kicks PSG team-mate in Brazil clash - WATCH

Image
NEYMAR and Edinson Cavani proved there is no love lost between the PSG pair during Brazil’s clash with Uruguay last night. Neymar captained Brazil at the Emirates Stadium in a friendly tie with Cavani’s Uruguay. The duo’s relationship has never been the best at PSG ever since Neymar joined the French giants from Barcelona in 2017 - effectively usurping Cavani as top dog. And Cavani showed he is not the biggest fan of his team-mate during Uruguay’s 1-0 defeat. Cavani and Neymar had been niggling at each other for much of the game when the tension finally came to a head in the 86th minute. Neymar  was drilling down the left wing and danced with the ball in front of Cavani. The Uruguay striker in turn lashed out at his PSG team-mate, leaving Neymar in a heap on the turf. Cavani was booked for the incident, which could have injured his club team-mate. And as the footage shows, Cavani clearly made contact with Neymar’s left ankle his is not the first time t...

Premier League table: Every team compared to last season – Newcastle woe, Arsenal shock

Image
NEWCASTLE UNITED are having a torrid time compared to this stage last season, but which teams have turned their fortunes around in the space of a year? Newcastle are enduring an awful start to the season and currently sit bottom of the table  (Image: REUTERS) Newcastle are currently rock bottom of the Premier League without a win all season, having most recently lost 1-0 at home to Brighton. Things are looking bleak in the North East with the team currently a massive 12 points behind their tally at this stage during the 2017/18 campaign. Manchester United  are also struggling to meet expectations after their worst start to a league season in 29 years, but it’s quite the opposite at  Arsenal . Unai Emery’s men are three points better off than they were under Arsene Wenger with a game in hand against Leicester still to play. Meanwhile,  Manchester City  are falling short of their title-winning form and Bournemouth are flying high under Eddie Howe –...

Trent Alexander-Arnold has named the toughest player that he's come up against

Image
. Trent Alexander-Arnold’s rise at Liverpool has been enjoyable to watch. The 20-year-old has gone from academy graduate at the club to first-team regular in no time at all. He was entrusted to mark Cristiano Ronaldo in the final of the Champions League last season and was hailed for his efforts against Paris Saint-Germain last month. “Young Trent Alexander-Arnold is special,” Match of the Day host  Gary Lineker wrote on Twitter  as Liverpool secured a memorable 3-2 win. The right-back was up against an imposing attacking trio of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani, which would be an intimidating task for many players. But Alexander-Arnold showed great maturity, leaving Liverpool supporters confident in the knowledge that they have their right-back of the next decade. Coming up against world-class players can only help the youngster’s development but he insists there’s another winger who gave him more trouble than any of the aforemen...
